Emerald City ComiCon is coming up March 13 & 14. It is held at the Washington State Convention Center in beautiful Seattle, Washington. ECCC is the Northwest’s premiere Comic Book and Pop Culture conventions and we are gonna be there, exhibiting. We are officially listed as TNP Press, since registration happened before Starboard was founded.

TNP Press will be at booth 1006 and will be represented by, Denis Caron of Anhedonia Blue and L.A.W.L.S., Ali Showkati of Spaghetti Strap Western, and Paul Westover and Ben Carter of Woody After Hours. We’re also gonna be sharing our table with Cari Corene of Toilet Genie.

Due to the fact that we have entered principle photography for my feature-length film Deranged, and that I am the only crew member on this project, you can imagine that my resources are going to be spent for the next month. As a result SSW will have to be on a temporary break until I enter post-production and things calm down a bit. I don’t wanna sacrifice page quality, so this is the best solution in the long run. Spaghetti Strap Western will return March 19 with page 91. Until then be sure to check out some other fantastic graphic novels over at Starboard Comics. My new graphic novel collective!

Welcome to the new webcomic collective, Starboard Comics.

This site was made out of a desire to create a collective, specifically for serialized online graphic novels. The difference between a traditional webcomic and the comics that make up Starboard, is that with traditional webcomics, the focus is usually on the humor and anyone can jump in and read a quick joke, similar to Calvin ‘n Hobbes or Peanuts. Here, our graphic novels offer greater overall depth and quality, and feature an overarching story that is told on a weekly basis. The emphasis is more on the plot and progression of a story, similar to other one-shot graphic novels like The Dark Knight Returns, or Watchmen.

The startup comics for Starboard Comics are Denis “Joenis” Caron’s Anhedonia Blue, Scott Ferguson’s Motokool and, Ali Showkati’s Spaghetti Strap Western. As you may have noticed Anhedonia Blue and SSW were originally part of our sister collective TNP Press. Over the past few months we began to realize that these novels could be better suited on a dedicated website. Well, the opportunity finally presented itself and here we are. We have officially decided to dedicate TNP Press to daily humor strips and publications, and make a new home for our graphic novels.

In addition to a great new site, we decided to start a podcast. There aren’t very many podcast out their dedicated to webcomics, so we decided to remedy that situation. Our podcast is called Starboard Webcomics Podcast, and you can listen to it via our homepage or by subscribing through iTunes. You can expect us to post a new episode every other Wednesday. We’ll be discussing everything from other webcomics, to our own personal techniques and tips. Should be a blast, so be sure to subscribe.

Finally, Starboard Comics is dedicated to following the comic convention circuit around the country. So look for our coming announcements, to see where we’re headed throughout the year.
